Lahore is the cultural capital of the country and Alhamra is the heart of Lahore. It was designed by illustrious Architect Mr. Nayyar Ali Dada and is located on Mall Road that has been renamed as Shahrah Quaid-e-Azam. It is also called as the Alhamra Hall, Alhamra Arts Council, Lahore Arts Council and Alhamra Art Gallery. Alhamra Arts Council offers various artists of all genres with space and opportunity to their art. There are six theatres and auditoriums that arrange various programs in areas of music, concerts, seminars, lectures, drama, workshops, award ceremonies and school functions. Its art gallery is the largest in the province that arranges art shows whole of the year. It also has an academy conducting music instruments learning courses including guitar, tabla, flute, violin, harmonium and sitar.

Afkar e TazaAfkar-e-Taza ThinkFest - Academic Literary Festival

Afkar-e-Taza ThinkFest 2018 will be held on 13th and 14th January 2018 at Alhamra Arts Council in Lahore, Pakistan. This is the second edition of the Academic Literary Festival being organized by the Centre for Governance and Policy. The Event is being hosted in collaboration with the Punjab Higher Education Commission, Higher Education Commission, Information and Culture Department, Destinations Magazine, and Daewoo Pakistan.

Afkar e Taza Think Fest brings together distinguished academics, writers, poets, artists, analysts, and performers from all over the world. Afkar-e-Taza literally means "Fresh/New Thoughts". The title is taken from the Poet Laureate Sir Muhammad Iqbal’s poem Takhliq (Creation). The inaugural event titled Afkar-e-Taza ThinkFest 2016 took place on 1st to 3rd April 2016 with "Rescuing the Past, Shaping the Future" motto at Alhamra Cultural Complex near Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

The full verse reads, in translation: "New worlds derive their pomp from thoughts quite fresh and new. From stones and bricks a world was neither built nor grew."
